The Oakwood Place SARC - Sexual Assault Referral Centre
Oakwood Place Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) offers free, confidential healthcare and compassionate support to people of all ages in Essex, who have experienced sexual assault, including rape. Whether the assault is recent or historical you can call us on 0330 223 0099 to speak with a nurse for support and to discuss your options for making an appointment and/or referrals.
We are not an emergency service. If you are in danger or need urgent medical attention, call 999. Our SARC services operate between 9 am – 9 pm (Monday – Sunday), however you can still contact us for advice and guidance outside of these hours. Simply call us for support on 0330 223 0099.
You will be offered our services based on your individual needs and you can choose to use as much or as little of our service as you wish. Our services include:
- Immediate over-the-phone rape and sexual assault support and signposting to specialist services
- In-person rape or sexual assault crisis support and healthcare including access to medicine
- Forensic medical examinations
- Holistic examinations and care for non-recent cases
- Collection and storage of forensic samples
- Referrals to specialist counselling and Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVA) support
- Follow-up calls after an appointment

How are services delivered?
The service is open to anyone aged 13 and older.
For parents/carers of children aged 12 and under, please call the Police on 101 or social services who will then be in contact with the SARC to discuss further.
