UDC: Sheltered Housing Team

The Council provides lots of different types of housing but we are very proud of our sheltered housing schemes. We have eleven sheltered schemes which cover the whole district from Reynolds Court our flagship complex in Newport to The Close in Hatfield Heath in the South West. Other sheltered sites can also be found in Dunmow, Thaxted, Takeley, Stansted and Saffron Walden.

Further info

Sheltered housing could suit you if you want to live independently but need a bit more support, or if you want to live in a smaller and easier-to-manage home. Most of our schemes also have the benefit of communal facilities where residents organise a variety of social activities should you wish to join in. For added security flats are fitted with a Community Alarm System where emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day 365 days of a year. Monday - Friday Sheltered Housing Officers will be on site during a period of the day. They are responsible for managing the site and making sure the residents are safe and well. During this time you can benefit from a daily visit should you want one. To apply for sheltered housing you will need to register on the Council’s Home Option Website https://www.uttlesford.gov.uk/article/8143/Apply-for-council-housing. If you need further information or to clarify whether you are eligible e-mail  housingoptions@uttlesford.gov.uk
