UCAN Walking Buddies

Walking Buddies is a project to match a volunteer with an individual who may be battling with loss of confidence and/or anxiety. This project helps people get back outside, in the fresh air, taking exercise. Loneliness, isolation and lack of confidence are currently big issues for many.

This service is particularly aimed at those people who have lost their confidence and now want to start getting back out into the community. Walks take place 1-2-1 at a time and date to suit. You will have the same buddy assigned for each walk, with the aim of building friendship.

Who can use this service?

Any Uttlesford resident who would like a volunteer buddy to walk with in their local area.

How are services delivered?

Walks are 1-2-1 with a trained and assigned volunteer, with whom a friendship can be developed over time.
