UDC Council Tax Exceptional Hardship Fund

This fund has been set up to support our most vulnerable customers who have seen a reduction in the Government support which helped to pay their Council Tax Liability or for those who are suffering financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. These support payments are set up to provide short term relief and therefore should not be seen as a long term solution to debt problems. Applicants will need to ensure they have taken all reasonable steps to resolve their own situation prior to application. The Fund can be used to help reduce the amount of Council Tax they have to pay for the current financial year, it cannot be used for previous years balances. An applicant does not need to be in receipt of Local Council Tax Support to make an application.

Who can use this service?

Any Uttlesford resident who has a Council tax liability

How are services delivered?

An application form will need to be completed (and supporting documents provided such as bank statements, benefit award letters etc..) with the Revenues Collections Officer either at the Council Offices, Dunmow Library or at a home visit. Once the application has been assessed and if the person is successful an amount will be awarded onto their Council Tax account to reduce their bill.
